Staff, students, friends and families turned out in huge numbers to support the hugely successful annual Young Mercies fundraiser on Friday 22 August. This year the students were inspired by the New York fashion shows and set the scene set with a backdrop for photo opportunies for guests arriving on the red carpet. The Hall and stage was transformed into the Big Apple with living statues, huge posters, entertainment and windows capturing New York life. The night opened with an exciting performance by talented dancers to Frank Sinatra’s New York, New York. It was quickly followed by students taking to the runway to show their designs from local city boutiques and Year 8 and 12 Textile creations. Student hosts, singers and musical entertainment ensured guests were thoroughly entertained. The Young Mercies raised more than $5000 for the College’s Street Soccer Ministry, which supports homeless youth in the city.
