1. Complete a Registration Form

Registration is an expression of interest in Mercedes College and not a formal commitment. The registration form ensures your daughter will be placed on a register for enrolment in the class and calendar year of your choice. Completion of the registration form does not guarantee your child a place.

Registrations are processed on a date-received basis. Preference is given to siblings of current and future confirmed students and to daughters of ex-students. Registrations are then processed in date order.

The registration fee is AUD $110 per student which can be paid by Mastercard, Visa, cheque, bank transfer. The College requires a copy of your child’s birth certificate, Baptism certificate, school report and other relevant documentation. We require both parents to sign the registration form. The College will send an acknowledgement of your registration.

2. Interview Offer

Families are selected for interview based on the following criteria:

  • Catholic students with reference from the parish priest.
  • Families with siblings, or who have attended, and who are supportive of policies and conditions.
  • Daughters of past students.
  • Other Catholic students with reference from parish priest.
  • Non-Catholic students from Catholic schools.
  • Non-Catholic students from other Christian denominations.
  • Other non-Catholic students.

The interview process for Year 7, 2022 and 2023 will take place in 2020. Applications for 2020 and 2021 are welcome subject to availability.

3. Offer of a Place

If families meet the Enrolment Conditions:

  • At least one parent attends an interview with the Principal or her representative.
  • Parents sign an acceptance of school policy, rules and parental involvement.
  • Students must be either Australian citizens or have permanent residency status.

an offer will be issued to parents immediately following the interview.

Families will receive a written offer immediately following the interview.

4. Acceptance of Offer

Families have four weeks to accept the offer and return their acceptance document with the Enrolment Acceptance Fee. The payment of this fee completes the enrolment interview process and secures a place for your daughter’s year of entry.

5. The year before Enrolment

A letter will be issued to prospective families in July regarding the Year 7 Parent Information session and MYAT (testing) in August. At this session parents will receive an pack including information about Orientation Day (November), uniform requirements, co-curricular information, P&F etc.

Sisters of Mercy Music Bursary

In recognition of the rich musical traditions of Mercedes College, the Sisters of Mercy Perth (Amalgamated) Inc, offer a Music Bursary to encourage talented students to pursue music studies at the College. Applicants are expected to demonstrate exceptional ability and potential together with the enthusiasm to make an active contribution to the musical life of the College. The applicant must be a current student or an incoming student.

Louise Allen-Arbuckle Music Scholarship

The Louise Allen-Arbuckle Music Scholarship was established by ex-student Louise Allen-Arbuckle (dec.) in 2014 to nurture music students with exceptional musical talent. Louise was an accomplished violinist, having performed with a number of Western Australian orchestras, a dedicated music teacher, and producer of many WA concert series. The scholarship offers a full two-year music scholarship valued at $2,500 to a student who is passionate about music and demonstrates exceptional musical talent. The successful applicant will be expected to continue her musical studies at school and maintain a high level of achievement in her chosen area of music study. She will also be expected to be fully supportive of, and, contribute to the co-curricular life of the College.

Indigenous Scholarship Program

Families of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Island descent are given the opportunity to engage in a Catholic school environment through scholarship opportunities for the education of their daughters.  Scholarships are offered annually and renewed on an annual basis, subject to a satisfactory review by the Principal.

Mercedes College Alumni (MCA) Year 7 Scholarships

The MCA Scholarships are awarded to two students who have accepted a position to enter Year 7 the following year and whose mother is a supporting (financial) member of the Mercedes College Alumni. Two partial Scholarships to the value of $2,000 are available for incoming Year 7s. The Scholarships have been established to encourage and support the education of an ex-student’s daughter or granddaughter at Mercedes College. For more information contact mca@mercedes.wa.edu.au
