The Arts program at Mercedes College offers outstanding opportunities for students interested in pursuing their passion in one or more of its areas – Drama, Media, Music, Speech and Visual Arts.
Cultural pursuits are also essential components in school life and include the House Arts Festival (Drama/Dance, Choir), the House Film Festival and the school musical.
The school musical, held at The Regal Theatre each year, offers a unique opportunity for Drama students to practice and hone their skills in a commercial setting working alongside industry professionals. The College is renowned for its school musicals – winning the Catholic Performing Arts Festival award for the Best Secondary School Musical in 2017 and 2018. The subject Drama is one of the College’s top WACE subjects.
The Music Department continues to be a leader in their field at the Catholic Performing Arts Festival winning numerous awards each year in both the Instrumental and Choral Music sections. The Music Program is designed to equip students with not only core performance skills, but also an advanced knowledge of musical theory and of music from a variety of periods and genres. The subject of Visual Arts is a consistent top performer in the WACE results and our Media students, who have state of the art facilities to hone their skills, demonstrate innovation with exciting new MC Lunchtime Live sessions on Facebook. Mercedes students are regular recipients of Bond University Scholarships.
