Celebrating our 2021 Graduates

Posted on 16/02/2022

As we embark on this new year, we must first acknowledge and congratulate our 2021 graduates for their fantastic results in their WACE examinations. Their determination and resilience both academically and through pastoral care initiatives all contributed to these outstanding results! With an median ATAR of 88.15 and 47% of 2021 graduates achieving ATAR scores above 90, Mercedes College has once again placed in the top fifteen schools in Western Australia!

Deputy Principal Andrew McClintock said he is very happy with the results. “The 2021 results were outstanding and reflect the tremendous efforts of the students and teachers.” he said. “For the second year running the College’s performance was ranked in the top 15 ATAR schools. Additionally, we saw numerous students apply successfully for university without an ATAR.”

The college celebrated the extraordinary achievements of our 2021 graduates last Tuesday at the College’s Excellence Assembly. SCSA Award winners and high achievers from Mercedes’ class of 2021 were presented with certificates of excellence, congratulated and recognised for their remarkable achievements.

Award Winners

Subject Certificates of Excellence were awarded to Grace Carbone (Human Biology), Zoe Southam (English), and Antonia Palermo (Italian: Second Language).

Certificates of Merit were awarded to Olivia Aliphon, Yashi Agrawal, Kate Armstrong, Liliana Bogoyev, Lili Boisvert, Orla Burke, Sophie Carroll, Sophie Chapman, Sophie Cirillo, Nadine Clarke, Grace Collins, Brooke Cumming, Zoe Edwards, Aliyah Fedec, Anne-Marie Fitzgerald, Bree Honschooten, Heely Maher, Zoe Manson, Amber Micale, Rukshana Naushad, Jessica Pendal, Hannah Reader, Renae Ricupero, Isabella Scarfone, Ella Simpson, Zoe Southam, Maeve Thiel, Tessa Walley, and Zhuo Mu Yang.

Certificates of Distinction were awarded to Tanisha Brouwer, Grace Carbone, Anika Collins, Sarah Dale, Holly Greville, Mai Lam, Jessica O’Brien, Antonia Palermo, Taylor Spicer, Grace Wajtowicz, and Audrey Taylor.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to Mercedes alum Fiona Wildy (Class of 1984), who was also in attendance. Fiona took the time to speak to our students about the different routes life can take with hard work and dedication.

We also thank 2021 graduate Antonia Palermo for her address. Antonia highlighted how our educators and families in the Mercedes community play such an important role through their ongoing support, and spoke to our younger students about what they can expect in years to come.

Congratulations to all our award winners and graduates for their excellent work, and we wish them the very best for the future.  We can’t wait to see what they do next!
