Well done to Josephine Mathew, Meghan Hayward, Genevieve Del Casale, Anna Tran and Emily Scanlan who were commissioned as Mercy Ambassadors on Friday 24 September, following the College’s Mercy Day celebrations. These five young ladies have been attending regular meetings with Francis Leong, the Director of Catholic Mission, where the girls have been learning about how the Church is addressing important issues, particularly human trafficking. As part of their role as Mercy Ambassadors the students spoke about this issue at the Cathedral Masses on the weekend of October 9 & 10.
During their commissioning, the girls were presented with a sacred message stick by Ms Donella Brown, Director of Aboriginal Catholic Ministry. Our Mercy Ambassadors will carry this sacred message stick to each Mass signifying they have been granted the authority to carry this important message to the wider community.
Sr Veronica Willaway OSB (the only indigenous Sister in Australia) and Father Sean prayed over each girl and commissioned them as Mercy Ambassadors for the West Australian Catholic Community. Congratulations to these students, they are truly wonderful ambassadors for the Mercy Charism.
