After the event not going ahead in 2020, the swimming team were excited to get into the pool on Wednesday 24 March for the ACC A-Division Swimming Carnival. According to our Head Coach, Ian Brown, the girls were more excited and nervous than what he saw at the Olympics. How wonderful it is to have our swimming program run by someone who knows this from firsthand experiences.
The girls have showed amazing amount of commitment over the last term and have come together as a supportive squad as they cheer everyone on and celebrated individual successes. This was lead by our enthusiastic year 12s and Captains Lucia Short and Taylor Spicer.
There was an extra buzz around our Year 7 and 8 students who were all competing for the first time. We had some incredible performance on the day and for many races we were on the edge of our seats as our girls swam their hearts out. We must thank our incredible team of coaches, led by Ian who taught the girls so much about themselves as swimmers and individuals.
Mercedes finished 4th in the senior category and is certainly closing the gap 1 point behind 3rd place and 2 points behind 2nd place!
Helena Toms achieved Champion Girl for under 15s, Elizabeth Brown achieved 3rd for Champion Girl in under 16 and Ashleigh Pedretti achieved 2nd for Champion Girl in under 17. We congratulate all our girls for achieving and improving on their own personal best!
