The Year 9 Rite Journey is a program that aims to empower our young people to journey to adulthood through the development of resilience, accountability, adaptability and a recommitment to Mercedes College.
On Friday 26 February the young ladies began their journey and gifted their parents a letter of gratitude which they wrote previously, along with a flower as a symbol of new beginnings. They also wrote on a pebble, a “childish” behaviour they would like to work towards changing this year, and placed their pebbles in basket to show they are ready to change and grow. Following the official ceremony, the girls began the annual TRJ Scavenger Hunt – students walked around East Perth completing challenges to questions and riddles.
The aim was to encourage bonding of Homeroom groups and for students to begin development of resilience and accountability, whilst demonstrating mature behaviours required for the TRJ program. Congratulations to Homeroom 9.4 who managed to secure the most points and complete all of their challenges! We hope you followed the live TRJ challenges on the College’s Instagram.
We look forward to seeing these young ladies bloom over the year. A big thank you to all parents and family members who participated in the ceremony and to the girls for taking part in all of the challenges!
