Creativity is born out of limitation. Therefore if 2020 should give us anything, it would be a boost of creativity! At Mercedes College the Media Department has taken our current limitations, and created a new opportunity for our students that allows them to develop their creativity, boost their production skills, and fill the void of some of the co-curricular opportunities that Covid-19 unfortunately put to an end. Thus, ‘MC Lunchtime Live’ was born!
This live TV production is being hosted in the Media department’s TV Studio and will see our two hosts introduce several pre-recorded segments, and even host an interview or two in the studio! The program will be live streamed through the College Facebook page using a mixture of content, highlighting key College events such as our recent House Fitness challenge, and some content that is just for fun … School Bus Karaoke anyone?
The first episode features an interview with one of the College’s favourite staff members, Sister Breda O’Reilly – she has such a story to tell!
MC Lunchtime Live is run by the Media staff , as well as our Year 10, 11 and 12 students who will showcase their technical and leadership skills through this process. Many of our graduating students move into Media based studies and careers and we ensure we give them as much industry experience as we can. Media Co-ordinator, Bridgette Stoney said her department is fortunate to be well resourced, with state-of-the-art editing suites, a fully equipped radio studio, TV studio and a wide range of cameras, lighting and audio equipment. “To do these resources justice, we provide a varied range of media-based opportunities for our students. In return, we are lucky to work with a fantastic group of dedicated, creative and passionate students who love what they do.”
