Brief Overview of the Position:

The Teacher – French / Italian plays a pivotal role in fostering students’ appreciation, fluency and understanding of language and culture across Years 7 to 12. As a member of the Languages Learning Area, this position contributes to the development of engaging, immersive and academically rigorous learning experiences that inspire students to achieve their personal best.

This role involves planning and delivering high-quality language programs, assessing student progress, integrating digital technologies to enhance language acquisition, and maintaining a child-safe and supportive learning environment. The teacher will work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure curriculum excellence, uphold educational standards, and promote the Mercy values that guide all aspects of College life.

Beyond classroom teaching, the position contributes to the holistic development of students through participation in co-curricular activities such as language clubs, cultural events and study tours, enriching students’ learning beyond the curriculum. A strong commitment to student-focused practice, professionalism, and the ability to build positive relationships with teenage girls, staff and families are essential to success in this role.

Applicants should demonstrate strong organisational and communication skills, proven ability to teach French and/or Italian, experience with contemporary learning technologies, and a willingness to contribute actively to the broader life of the College.
