Every girl is issued with a College-managed device, providing seamless access to a secure, consistent, and enriched digital learning experience. Each device is equipped with industry-leading platforms including Microsoft 365, Apple Creative apps, Adobe Creative Cloud, Canva, SEQTA Learn, and more, all carefully selected to deepen learning, encourage exploration, and inspire creative expression.

Central to our digital learning landscape is the newly renovated Learning Hub, a dynamic, technology-driven space designed to support innovation. Students can access charging stations, 3D printers, and a range of digital resources, backed by our dedicated on-site IT team who are available every day to provide personable, reliable support.

Across the College, classrooms are thoughtfully equipped with technology that enhances teaching and enriches engagement. From interactive learning experiences to collaborative digital projects, technology is integrated purposefully to bring concepts to life and strengthen understanding.

Learning Technology for 2026

All student years 7-11 will be provided with a school-leased device with AppleCare, provisioned via an annual device levy.

New devices are issued at the start of Year 7 and Year 10 and are retained by the student for the 3 year cycle.

During Term 3 of 2026, Year 9 devices will be assessed for any non-warrantable damage to allow for the most efficient and cost-effective repair option whilst they are still covered by AppleCare+ and to assist the school in meeting its obligations to our leasing provider (Service Fees may apply as outlined in the FAQ).

When starting at Mercedes, parents will receive infromation regarding collection bookings for their new device via enrolments.

New Year 12 students are required to BYO their own MacBook with the following minimum specifications for their devices:

  • MacBook Air M3

Parents can source these from a supplier of preference requesting education pricing. However, Winthrop Australia is the nominated discounted supplier and can be accessed via their online store below.

College leased devices allows us to monitor devices more effectively, and promotes optimal teaching and learning in terms of deployment of applications, imaging and responding to student user issues.

This model of student learning technology access also helps ensure consistency of learning opportunities for all students and secure management of software and services.

The device is one part of the whole package, which includes support, software, management, security, warranty, service agreement and swap outs during repairs to ensure minimal disruption to learning.

This is in keeping with staff devices and the College device management and classroom infrastructure configuration and investment. In a multi-vendor world, the flexibility of the chosen devices allows for the cross-platform use of the full Microsoft 365 suite, Adobe apps and additional apps such as Canva and Education Perfect.  However, mixed device platforms create confusion and overheads for implementation, function, and management. In keeping costs to families manageable, the College can negotiate a competitive pricing structure with an Apple device.

No, it is important that the students have the same device with the same software suite and the same security settings. The device is one part of the whole package, which includes support, software, management, security, warranty, service agreement and loan devices in the event a repair is required. This policy ensures minimal disruption to student learning.

Yes, a 256 GB hard drive is sufficient storage for nearly all students. Students doing Media courses may benefit from more local storage however is not generally required.

Students are also able to access 1TB of OneDrive storage.

The device will connect to home networks, and students will be able to access online platforms at home (e.g., YouTube, Netflix, etc). However, they will not be able to install apps or change device settings.

No, Education Perfect is made available to students where required by teachers and the cost is covered via the IT Levy.

Students access eBook versions of the textbooks via the Box-of-Books app using licences purchased via the college booklist. These texts listed as a compulsory item include eBooks  allowing students to sign-in to interactive activities via their college SSO (Single Sign On).
