After attending the 2020 Bond University Media Tour with a group of Year 11 and 12 ATAR Media students, Lily Boisvert (Class of 2021) was amazed at the University’s Film and Television program, as well as the Gold Coast lifestyle.
The annual Media Tour sees students spend four days in workshops where they develop their skills in cinematography, editing, sound recording, lighting and live television broadcast. Bond University lecturers, all of whom are industry professionals, provide students with up-to-date skills, technology and a first-hand insight into an exciting industry. The students also tour the ABC’s Gold Coast studios, spend a day at Movie World, and of course enjoy the Gold Coast sights.
After this experience, Lily decided that she wanted to apply to Bond through their scholarship program. After months of written submissions, videos, and interviews, she was notified by Professor Tim Brailsford, Vice Chancellor of Bond University, that she was the recipient of the 2021 Vynka Hohnen Scholarship.

The scholarship covers full tuition fees for any single undergraduate degree. It is awarded annually to a Year 12 student enrolled at a Western Australian Secondary School. The scholarship acknowledges “young achievers who demonstrate leadership and community involvement, a capacity for academic achievement and a generous and outgoing nature”. Lily was fortunate to have 2020 Deputy Head Girl and previous Vynka Hohnen Scholarship recipient Georgia Gillibrand as a mentor throughout the selection process.
Lily also won multiple Bond University Film and Television Awards (BUFTA) in November 2021 for her short film ‘The Tea Sommelier’. Of the 160 film entries submitted, Lily’s short film won;
- Best Screenwriting
- Best Drama
- 2021 Redbull People’s Choice Award

Lily departed Perth in early January to begin her new adventure studying a Bachelor of Film and Television. Lily joins fellow alumni at Bond, including her friend Holly Greville and last year’s BUFTA winner Mia Erskine. The College congratulates Lily on her success. We look forward to keeping in touch with our students and their Gold Coast adventures.
