It was a long build up to the transition camp for the Year 7s due to the COVID lockdown at the beginning of the year. The camp took a slightly different look as the girls have already spent 6 months with each other. It was now a time to solidify relationships already built whilst still allowing opportunities to get to know other people in the year group.
Some of the Year 7s left looking tired (perhaps some late night talking) and a bit disheveled (partly due to the mud pit on the commando course). But all had an amazing time.
Camps like these don’t happened without amazing staff, particularly the Year 7 homeroom teachers Lorraine, Pasca, Kathleen, Amber, Amanda and Greg who were dedicated to providing the best experience for the girls. Special mentions to Brent, Vicki, Liana, Isaac, Monty and Brianna who also gave up their time to support the Year 7s and to Margie and Travis for the organisation of their lunch and Message sticks.
This year we also had 11 Prefects accompany the girls who were put into a “big sister” role. These girls exemplified what it means to be a Mercedes Lady and gave the Year 7s an insight into how to be Young women of Mercy.
Camps like these give such valuable and memorable experiences for our students and cannot run without the support of the whole College.
