The past weeks have seen our senior students focussing on life beyond school. Years 11 and 12 have completed examinations and Year 10 started this week. The examination period is a challenging time for students as they revise what they have learned so far and prepare to show this knowledge as they answer examination questions and solve problems. It provides an opportunity for students to reflect on their progress, to determine if their study strategies are effective and to receive feedback from their teachers. It also supports teachers to reflect on classroom practice and encourages an ongoing focus on improvement.
Workplace learning has been conducted this term providing Year 11 and 12 students with an opportunity to try a particular career they are considering. It also gives students an understanding of the world of work including the need for punctuality, meeting deadlines and collaborating as part of a work team. We have received some impressive feedback from employers about our students praising their ability to fit in with current teams and the high standard of their work. I am very proud of our students and grateful to the many businesses that provide this opportunity. Thanks also to Christine Spagnuolo, our Careers and Transition Co-ordinator, who makes this opportunity possible.

For the past four weeks our Year 9 students have been attending ballroom dancing lessons at Trinity College, culminating in a social on Thursday evening. It should be a fun-filled evening. These lessons and the social are often very fond memories for ex-students of the College.

We recently had our AGM for the Mercedes College Alumni. If any parents are ex-students of the College and keen to be involved, please email our marketing team and they will make contact.
