Mercy Scholarship

A Mercy Scholarship provides financial assistance for low-income families through full tuition support.

Inspired by the practical example of Catherine McAuley, applicants will embrace the Mercy values of compassion, justice, excellence, integrity, service, and hope.

The Mercy Scholarship program aims to foster a lifelong love of learning for purposeful living.

Who Can Apply?

Mercy Scholarships are open to new students entering Years 8 to 11 who are not currently enrolled at Mercedes College, and who meet the criteria below.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Financial Need: Families must meet the low-income threshold specified in the application form.
  • New to the College: The scholarship is only available to students not currently enrolled at the College.
  • Values Alignment: Applicants must demonstrate in their personal statement and supporting documents how their goals, character, and values are aligned with the College’s values of compassion, justice, excellence, integrity, hope and service.
  • Complete Application: A completed application with all required documents must be submitted by the deadline. Late or incomplete submissions will not be considered for the scholarship.
  • Academic and Character Excellence: Applicants’ academic achievements, personal integrity, and service to others and aspirations form an integral part of the selection process.

Provide Your Portfolio
Showcase Achievements: Applicants must provide supporting documents and visuals that demonstrate their achievements and align with their chosen category in the application process.

Review & Notification
Applications will be thoroughly reviewed. Applicants advancing to the final interview stage will be notified in October.

Yes, successful recipients will receive full tuition remission for the duration of their daughter’s education at Mercedes College, subject to annual review of academic and personal progress. Tuition fees do not include extra-curriculum or elective subjects.

Your portfolio application for the Mercy Scholarship Program should showcase the student’s achievements, skills, and aspirations. The following items are required:

  • Personal Statement: The student must write a short statement explaining why they are applying for the scholarship and how their goals align with it. This must reflect the student’s own voice, thoughts, and experiences. Parents should not write or heavily edit this statement, as it is an important part of understanding the student’s perspective.
  • Academic Achievements: Include transcripts, grades, or any notable academic accomplishments.
  • Extracurricular Activities: Provide details about the student’s involvement in clubs, sports, or community service.
  • Certificates and Awards: Highlight any honours, recognitions, or certifications that reflect the student’s abilities and efforts.
  • Letters of Recommendation (optional): Ask teachers, mentors, or supervisors who know the student well to provide these.
  • Program-Specific Documents (if required): Include any forms or materials explicitly requested by the Mercy Scholarship guidelines.
