The Big Classroom: Professional Learning with Tom Sherrington in Perth

Posted on 05/11/2025

Mercedes College invites your teaching staff and school leaders to a rare, in-person professional learning experience with acclaimed educator, author, and consultant Tom Sherrington. Tom is the voice behind the highly respected blog teacherhead.com and the author of the best-selling Rosenshine’s Principles in Action and the influential Teaching WalkThrus series. With over 30 years of experience as a science teacher and school leader, Tom’s training and consultancy have helped transform teaching quality in schools worldwide.

Why attend in person?

This is Tom Sherrington’s only Western Australia in-person workshop. The day offers the unique advantage of learning directly from Tom: benefit from real-time demonstrations, immediate feedback, hands-on coaching, and the opportunity to engage in live Q&A and collaborative practice with peers. Every activity is designed for practical impact where attendees will leave with proven, high-frequency teaching strategies that can be implemented in classrooms immediately.

Throughout the day, participants will explore and apply dynamic strategies from the Teaching WalkThrus series, including:

  • Signal, Pause, Intent
  • Cold Call
  • Think, Pair, Share
  • Show Me Boards
  • Live Modelling
  • Class Discussion
  • Practise Explaining
  • …and more

With strictly limited places to guarantee a high-quality, interactive experience, this one-day intensive is not to be missed. Invite your team to take their professional learning to the next level with direct guidance from one of education’s most respected thought leaders.
