Mercedes spent Week 3 of this term celebrating Languages Week, raising awareness of the benefits of language and highlighting the linguistic diversity in our community!
Throughout the week, Italian students learned to play scopa, a centuries-old card game using a traditional Italian 40-card deck. Meanwhile French students built models of la Tour Eiffel, and many students spent lunchtime on Thursday creating jewellery out of pasta!

The Language Department put on a delicious morning tea for staff on Monday, while students had the chance to enjoy international fare at Catherine’s Cafe throughout the week, with offerings including minestrone, ficelle, orange chicken and tarte flambee.
The Year 11 Italian class even got to make their own! They enjoyed making Tiramisù and definitely enjoyed eating it for merenda (afternoon tea)!

A big thank you must go to Head of Languages Mrs Grassi, and all the Language staff for their efforts in coordinating activities over the week!
