Mercedes wins FameLab Academy Finals

Posted on 20/08/2021

Congratulations to Stella McMurtrie from Year 9 ACE Science class, who was awarded as the FameLab Academy 2021 winner.

FameLab Academy is the sister competition to FameLab, the world’s leading science communication competition which discovers, trains and promotes the best new voices in science, technology and engineering. Finalists are selected from Year 9 students across WA schools. They have just three minutes to convey a scientific concept of their choice in a dynamic and engaging way. Stella’s presentation was titled “Is your appendix a useless ticking timebomb?” and she performed at the Heath Ledger Theatre for a panel of WA science and education advocates that judged the competitors on content, clarity and charisma.

Congratulations also to Mr Isaac Cook and the members of the Year 9 ACE Science class for the high calibre of their presentations in the school heats for this event.
