  • The interpretation and speaking of poetry, drama and prose
  • Theory of the mechanics of speech
  • Correct vowel and consonant production
  • The art of communication and effective speech
  • Techniques of modulation for emphatic speech
  • Stagecraft

Students are prepared for and may enter Trinity College of London examinations from third grade upwards or the Australian Music Examination Board exams from fourth grade (examination fees are payable). An alternative is to be examined by an experienced teacher in a modified/similar programme to the above mentioned examination formats.

The year’s work will consist of 32 lessons, an average of eight lessons per term, with each lesson being of one period’s duration. Lessons are conducted in small groups for more personalised tuition.  All students study a general introductory speech unit for term one. At the end of this time, students will be advised about the two examination formats, and, with the teacher’s and parental guidance, select an examination format.
